Frequently Asked Questions

In general, finasteride and minoxidil are most effective (>90%) at reducing and stopping further hair loss. Around 66% of men who use these two products do experience some regrowth, and at best, men will get back up to 20% of the hair they lost. It typically takes 3 - 4 months to start to see results (learn more on that here).

Every person is different, and a licensed YatesMD physician can provide personalized guidance on what you can expect with your treatment. That physician will be the best person to evaluate your current hair loss and provide you with a diagnosis and possible treatment plan.

To find out if YatesMD is right for you, fill out our short medical quiz and submit three photos of your head. It only takes five minutes and a licensed physician will be in touch within 24-48 hours.

Note: Photos are only seen by your doctor to help them give you the correct diagnoses and prescribe the appropriate treatment.

Hair transplants are an outpatient procedure, meaning you can expect to go home the same day of your procedure. Your physician will prescribe necessary medications, like antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medication, and pain medications to aid in your recovery process.

In the days following the procedure, you may experience soreness and discomfort at the transplant site as well as the area where your hair follicles were recovered from. Your physician may recommend aftercare tips for the days following your procedure, such as guidance around washing your hair, exercise, and how to care for your scalp.

Hair does take some time to grow, so don’t expect to see anything overnight. It typically takes 4-6 months or longer to start seeing results from finasteride and minoxidil.

Remember: consistency is key. You have to take your treatment every single day. We’ve put together some easy tips to help you remember to take your treatment.

If you have medical questions about your treatment, you can reach out to your YatesMD medical provider at any time via our secure messaging platform.
